Learning Community: Identity & Sexuality
Third Sundays / August-December / 6:00 P
During this learning community, Carlos Pinero from Citizen House will guide us as we study and discuss identity and sexuality from a biblical perspective. Similar to a book club, we'll read, watch, or listen to content throughout the month and then gather together to discuss what we're learning. You may consider this "microchurch seminary".
This semester will include sensitive and personal topics for many of us. The goal is not to build an arsenal of Biblical ammunition to fire at those who may disagree with you on issues of sexuality or gender identity. The goal is to better form a worldview that helps you love people the way that Jesus does…in grace AND truth…In compassion AND conviction.
There will be approximately 30-60 minutes of prep work each week before the monthly meetings consisting of Bible reading, articles, book excerpts, podcast episodes, or videos. The content will be delivered digitally at the beginning of each month via RightNow Media. We hope that this is an "approachable challenge". You don't need to be a Bible expert or seminary student to join the learning community. But you do need to be teachable, ready to be stretched, and willing to discuss and ask questions.
Dinner will be provided. You may choose to bring cash or venmo at the meetings to help cover food costs. Childcare is not provided.
